Ashka K. Shah was raised in New York and moved to North Carolina in 2017. Following her undergraduate studies in Philosophy, Politics and Law at SUNY Binghamton, Ashka attended Hofstra University School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate. She is currently licensed in New York (2009), U.S. District Court – Southern District (2013), U.S. District Court – Eastern District (2013), North Carolina (2019) and South Carolina (2020).
Prior to partnering with Yagnesh Patel, Ashka worked as of counsel with Patel & Houston Law, handling residential real estate closings. Before that, Ashka was Senior Attorney at a New York law firm, in charge of the Nassau County District Court Landlord-Tenant litigation practice in resolution of hundreds of residential and commercial real estate summary proceedings, and successfully aided both landlords and tenants in housing court, as well as in administrative proceedings.
Ashka was honored as “Pro Bono Attorney of the Month” by Nassau/Suffolk Law Services’ Volunteer Lawyers Project and the Nassau County Bar Association in June 2015 in a publication in the Nassau Lawyer. She was also awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Nassau County Bar Association as an Access to Justice Pro Bono Provider from 2015 through 2018.
Ashka enjoys travel, photography and spending time with her husband, twin boys and dogs.
